I love fishing Kokes, to me they are as close as it comes to wiper fishing this time of the year. They fight like brutes, you can catch one after the other when you find them, and they are just ugly!

I want to share what I do as I know a lot of you hate the idea of salmon fishing in this state which I understand - maybe this will give you a different opinion and get you out to try again.

I catch all of my kokes on Kastmasters,
They do grab em with their mouth
They do start in September and are good eating - not rotten in September
They have spunk and fight like bulls in September
Few people in September - no combat fishing

Ultimately I just want people to know the BS snagging is not the only way to catch these things and you don't need to smoke them either early on.

Hey, snagging is fishing too. >:D

They'll also hit pink lures, like a pink streamer or plastic on a jig head.

Nice job on those. :thumb:

Sweet! I made up some special kastys with pink prism tape. Kokes love them! Tie up those koke eggs and fish them on the bottom near the schools. You'll catch some pig browns that way!

Nice! I do miss Green Mountain in the early 70s. Had to quit fishing mid 70s for personal reasons and just back into fishing a couple years back. Looks like the only real koke fishery with any size is Blue Mesa now.
