Great report Ricky! Sucks to not get a shot at a DD, but timing is everything with trophies. Your timing was just a little off in some manner. Topwater fishing for days....that is what we dream of. So much work here to get even a 10-20 bite day on public waters, and you had 100's of em in a couple.
Scrounger heads with a fluke did real well at Powell on stripers. But what head did you buy? I see yours has a flipping 2x or 3x hook on it.
