Would like to start moving some of my info from my GPS to my PC. Does anyone use a mapping program that they like? want to make some basic maps and record some trails that have produced during the year.

What do you guys like to use?

I use a program called ExpertGPS. Here is an example of what it does. You can also use topo maps.

That is pretty cool. So how do these programs interface with your GPS data? Do you create comma separated files first?

I'm using MapCreate6 which came with my Lowrance sonar/GPS but it is very basic.

You just transfer your way points into ExpertGPS via the export option. You can then overlay a map over your WP

I use National Geographics TOPO! It's a great program but pricey ($100). If I did a little more reasearch I could have probably bought a much cheaper Topo program that does the same thing...DOH! Live and learn.
