Went to a mountain lake yesterday to (1) see if I could tie into a decent sized lake trout, (2) try out the Lowrance HDS8 on the NuCanoe and (3) record some Insight Genesis data. Only missed the first objective...kinda...lakers were smaller than I wanted but they were fun. Ended up with 20 lakers and one very aggressive Rainbow. Start the video game.

Well, I am sure it is like Dr. Depth whereby at the outer edges the algorithm is more susceptible to error. With Insight you can have it widen the outer edges and a lot of people use that when mapping a known flat area. Where contours change I would not use the option. In fact I use the default settings which are tighter.

Here is a pic from Saturday where I was not close enough to a previous run and it did not assume.
