I haven't ice fished in fifteen or so years, so I would like to get out again and get it another go.

I thought I would try Eleven Mile a time or two. Furthermore I don't think I've ever caught anything ice fishing so even an old boot would be kind of neat :D

I have often purposely caught suckers through the ice at Wolford and keep 'em for bait.

hell go to bills live bait he's always got cheap suckers. This is my first year ice fishing hard to I plan to try as many lakes as possible and find my own favorites. I know for sure I'll be trying to pull some slayer type fish from elevenmile, and some big macs out of grandby

Places I have been:
11-mile = favorite place for big trout + small chance for pike
Skaguay = favorite place for lots of stocker trout + small chance for pike

Places I can't wait to try:
Aurora = big tasty perch and walleye + close to home
Chatfield = walleye + close to home

How thick does the ice get at aurora and chatfield? Are there lots of people?

Aurora can get kinda crowded,I think Chatfield is worse.Sometimes at Aurora only the coves freeze, which is OK 'cause they're good fishing. At either lake, good ice doesnt last long, maybe a month?

Hey Slayer, Have you caught many walleyes through the ice here in colorado? I've only caught a couple @ lake loveland, and a tiny one @ CC, with minnows off the bottom. Although I must say, I haven't really put alot of time in on fishing them in the winter. I'd much rather go to 11-mile, Granby, or the Fork, where I know we'll have lots of action.

Hey JO-I havent put a lot of time in chasing wallys either. I caught a 21" wally at Lontree 2 years ago, a 18" and a bunch of little ones at CC, and a couple 15"ers at Chatfield. Also a 22" at a private lake in boulder county. I think if a person devoted themselves to pursuit of wallys,he might do allright. Bit the lack of good ice on the wally lakes makes this tough to do. I,too, like the action and size of 11-mile and Granby and the Fork, also Wolford sometimes.
