I have an 8" lazer hand auger..... brand new too....... I've used it a couple times now and my last trip up to granby it started having issues.........first off...... it performed very well and cut with ease when I first got it but now it doesn't seem to bite down as good and I'm having to put a great amount of pressure on it in order for it to work....... like I said...... it used to cut with little effort but now it's soo hard to get one hole done....... I heard the blades may be the issue......Chinese verse Swedish........ I'm not looking at the auger right at the moment and can't tell you what kind of blades are on it...... it does say made in Sweden...... on the shaft......since your not able to see it for yourself I am looking for any help as to get this auger to work properly....... thanks for your help

Did you happen to bang it down on the ice at all... May be clear off the ice? Let someone else use your auger?? LOL Just thinking it might be bent?

I wouldn't think they would dull so fast but I guess it's possible.... you fish Georgetown at all?

Colo Mac, It happens if you use your auger a lot.

Try and be religious about keeping the cover on the blades when not in use, don't bang it down the holes.

Buy a fresh set and have the originals sharpened, that way you have 2 sets, so when the ones on the screw get dull, you can switch out and get the dull set sharpened.

Checked my blades.........there made in Sweden.........I also checked to see if the blades were dull or chipped......very sharp.........the couple chips I can see are so small...... a couple of hairs would fill em.........and I've only drilled about 50 holes in its lifetime...... bought it brand new at the start of the season........What should I do....... try new blades anyways.......
