I have an 8" lazer hand auger..... brand new too....... I've used it a couple times now and my last trip up to granby it started having issues.........first off...... it performed very well and cut with ease when I first got it but now it doesn't seem to bite down as good and I'm having to put a great amount of pressure on it in order for it to work....... like I said...... it used to cut with little effort but now it's soo hard to get one hole done....... I heard the blades may be the issue......Chinese verse Swedish........ I'm not looking at the auger right at the moment and can't tell you what kind of blades are on it...... it does say made in Sweden...... on the shaft......since your not able to see it for yourself I am looking for any help as to get this auger to work properly....... thanks for your help

Thanks for your help guys......... Once I get it working right I'm going to baby it.......great auger and usually cuts just as good as my 6" Eskimo.......I need a bigger hole though for lakers
Checked my blades.........there made in Sweden.........I also checked to see if the blades were dull or chipped......very sharp.........the couple chips I can see are so small...... a couple of hairs would fill em.........and I've only drilled about 50 holes in its lifetime...... bought it brand new at the start of the season........What should I do....... try new blades anyways.......
Gonna try new blades....... appreciate all your help
Unfortunately, I've been so busy I haven't been able to get out on the ice....... kinda hard when the only ice is at higher elevations......... anyways I got some further input as to what I should do with my dull auger..........I let a few people take a look at it and they came to the same conclusion....... I have sharp blades...... there is though some very small nicks that I've been told can be fixed with fine emery paper....... has anyone done this.......if so...... did it help?
Nicks may be the wrong word....... not indentations either..... I'll post a pic
It's hard to get good pics.......I was more curious if anyone had used an emery cloth.......
Gas augers I like...... quite an investment........ emery cloths?
