i use live bluegill for wiper. i found a hole in a cove behind northshore marina that always has bluegill.

I will have my son be my bluegill catcher, I am going to fish all night tomorrow with live suckers and bluegill and see what happens. Do you do pretty good with bluegill? I also saw some big shad chasing my lures yesterday, I was thinking about trying them for bait, but they looked to be about 12". I guess I will bring a few surf rods!!!

I've used bluegill for wipers before...not nearly as good as crawdad tails, mussels, or cut shad ---get some of those shad and cut them up---bite like hot cakes! I know in California it's illegal to use bluegill as bait (live or dead) but I can't remember why.
