Howdy all.
I'm new to the area and I was wondering if there were any good spots close to the Larkspur, Castle Rock, and Parker areas. Just looking for a spot to get a line wet after work some days. Not looking for big fish just some place to throw some lures or maybe a bait or two to relax and unwind.

Thanks for having this great site.

You could head south and try Palmer Lake in the town of the same name. They are filling it back up and have stocked it with trout. A flyrod would work the best as I stopped by and was able to get a few casts in before this big thunderstorm hit. Trout were raising all over the lake. I caught 2 in the 10 minutes I was there on a small dry fly.

Another option is to just drive up 85 to Chatfield. You can fish from the shore with Crawlers and do pretty good!

Start reading some of the past posts and you may find a few more places as well...

acording to the colorado springs gazette. they stocked it with 2000 rainbow trout --weighing over 2000lbs. by my calculations thats about 1lb per stocker --pretty damn big for a stocker trout. A local businessman paid for the stocking ($6600) and the town has asked that they be caught & released -- the DOW has not stated when they will start stocking monument lake.
