Hello, I've got an older jiffy 3hp 2 stroke 10". It's a beast works well and the problem I've got is its heavy at 38 lbs and I've got some back problems and after drilling 20 or more holes a day it can be tiresome for my back.

I'm looking at the new Honda 10" strikmaster at 25lbs. Has anyone used any of the new strike masters in 10". I really don't care what motor it has 2 stroke or 4 stroke. I've seen the solo 2 strokes and the Honda 35cc.
-I would like an auger that will run while its tilted on its side so I can carry it one handed from hole to hole as I'm drilling tons of holes in Wyoming with the 6 pole limit.
- I want plenty of power with a smaller motor and chewing a 10" hole.
- I don't want oil to spill out ever no mater what position its in, obviously it won't be upside down.

Does anyone own these that can chime in, thanks guys.

I've got the strikemaster 10" with chipper blades and solo engine. Never failed yet, and I haven't done anything special for it in 4 years except run it dry at end of season. It's 28 pounds I think.

It isn't blazing fast, but after screwing around with blades and angles and crap, I can't imagine why people want to do that all over again with a power auger. I haven't sharpened the blades yet, but chippers are easy enough to do if I feel the need.

The Solo has never taken more than 5 pulls, and rarely more than 2 once it has run for a while, and I will drill several holes at once carrying it sideways while running no problem.

your mileage may vary.

Once it has drilled one hole, it only takes one pull to start if I decide to shut it off while moving. I have been very pleased with it from the get go. I carry it in the vehicle upright in a milk crate that it fits perfectly in, never had any smell or spill problems, and never had leaks while on the ice.

Strikemaster recalled their 50 volt lithium electric auger but they fixed the electric switch problem and should be selling the new improved version again next season. No muss, no fuss. 8)

yah its a great auger, jiffy pro4 starts on 1 pull, quiet and eats ice like crazy, mine is heavy with a 50cc motor, jiffy makes a pro light with a smaller motor. yes they come in 10"
I will never buy another gasoline auger.
