Hey guys... just wanted to get the scoop on seamans and the perch there. I hear there are lots of them as well as some decent trout. I have been there in the summer and know it is a bit of a hike just to get to the dam let alone the back side.

I have hear that the ice there is sometimes unstable and questionable, is this true? Or does it ice up pretty thick and safe?

Also, if anyone fished it regularly, can you let me know if the dam area is any good? I have heard you need to walk to the back side near the inlet to catch the fish, but that's a couple miles walking in snow. Thanks guys! Any info helps!

Welcome to the site. What I've been told is the ice is questionable and should always use caution. I've seen reports this year of people getting on the ice at the dam and walking to thhe backside. Reports this year have been a lot of perch but nothing over 8-9". Last report I saw said the wind was brutal. Hope that helps

Thanks, that does help a little I guess. I just can't figure out why everyone I talk to says you have to walk to the back side. That's one heck of a hike even in the summer. There has to be good fishing on the closer half, but I don't see many reports from the lake even when I search the forums... and the state record perch seems to be from seaman so I would have guessed there would be more reports.
