The on-water session will be held at the beautiful, private North Fork Ranch, only 45 minutes from Denver. On-water, we will put to use what we learned in the classroom and fish for 5-8lb. The 21st Annual No Name Fishing Tournament will begin at sunrise on Saturday, May 14th and continue until 10AM Sunday, May 15th. A Junior (age 16 or under) prize of $100 and a trophy will be awarded for the largest fish in this category. Many, many door prizes will be given away. On May 21, 2005, at 1:00 PM, the Boating Safety for Teens class will be offered at John Martin Reservoir State Park Visitor Center. Colorado State Park rangers and the Southeast Colorado Water Safety Council will cooperate in teaching this class. Operators of motorboats and personal water craft in public waters must be at least age 16 in Colorado. However, teens ages 14 and 15 can operate motorized boats if they first have this class. Contact the park office at (719) 829-1801 to register by phone or e-mail [email protected]. Call (303) 791-1954 or e-mail [email protected] to receive the free instruction booklet required for the class. A certification fee of $15 per student will be required at the time of testing. Students must also bring a 1x1" photo of themselves that will be laminated to their operator card. Boat operator cards will be issued to students who attend the review session and pass the final exam with a score of at least 70%.

DOW fisheries biologists will give a preview on the best bets for warmwater and trout fishing in Southeast Colorado and South Park.
They will also provide information on fish populations in regional lakes and streams, stocking plans, reservoir water levels and stream flows, whirling disease, status of greenback cutthroat trout, high lake fishing, and the current license fee bill before the Colorado Legislature.
?Anglers are asked to come eager to talk about fishing in the Arkansas and Upper South Platte basins, and bring their questions, ideas and suggestions,? encouraged Doug Krieger, Senior Fish Biologist for the Southeast Region. ?We will have a great opportunity to share some information and ideas.?
The DOW staff will also discuss draft fishing regulations for the 2006-2010 period that will be presented to the Colorado Wildlife Commission at their July meeting. Subjects will include ? but are not limited to ? size and bag limits, stocking schedules, fishing regulations and other items of concern to anglers. Angler comments and suggestions are welcome.

Is anyone going to the Gander Mountain " Backpacking and Fly Fishing in the Rocky Mountain National Park" seminar tomorrow? I think I'm headed up there if the roads aren't bad my buddy just left my house and said its blizzarding on the interstate just north of Pueblo. Said he had to go 10 mph and couldnt tell if he was even on the road at times. Hopefully heading north to Denver will be better.
Well drove all the way up there to Gander Mountian for their seminar today, and it was canceled nice waste of 20$ in gas. Might be nice if they updated their website when stuff like that happens or better yet people that work there coughDONcough could give us a heads up.

From 9am to 4pm a fly fishing circus atmosphere - complete with free hot dogs and soda - will be set for our customers.
