Is it me, or has the bass fishing really dropped-off, especially at Quincy?

Since this is our first year targeting bass, we're not too sure of the yearly feeding cycle or bait selection. Plastic worms were working well for us but now we just can't coax a strike. We've tried some top-water lures worked slowly, but no success there, either.

I guess that it will pick-up later in the fall with lower water temps and less forage available. What has been your experience with bass late in the year?

Thanks!

Bass fishing frequently takes a nose dive in the late summer and then improves again when cooler fall weather moves in. Right at this time, I am getting some bass on topwater lures but only very early in the morning when it's still almost too dark to see, and late in the evening after sunset. I think in the daylight they must be going to the deepest water they can find.
