Fished Mitchell Lakes up in Indian Peaks on Monday from 10am-2:30pm. Man was it windy! It was so windy I just left the flyrod in the trunk, figuring it would be a little rough trying to cast. I stuck with the spinning gear, chucking a 3/8 oz. brass Kasty. It worked well, and I caught a bunch of brookies and cutts up to about 14 inches or so. Not exactly SLAYERFISH caliber, but enough to make me happy. I switched to a silver and orange Kasty after my longest cast of the day. It's amazing how far those lures fly when the line snaps mid-cast. Mitchell is almost impossible to beat for sheer beauty, and the fishing can be a lot of fun. I highly recommend it.

Sounds like a great time... It was windy up at Pomeroy lake this weekend too, and a little chilly some of the aspens are already changing. I wanted to get upto indian peaks area and hit some of those lakes but I dont think I'm make it this year.

LOL! :D

And as heavy as those things are it may have killed a fish when it hit the water! ;)
Luckily the ponds I fish they usually land on the other side when that happens... Sounds like a National Lanpoons Vacation skit, the lure snaps flys threw the air and knocks some big guy off his jetski. He comes over to the fisherman with the lure snagged in his ear or something. "Does this belong to you?"
