If you have unused line on a spool in a box out of the way of sunlight, how long is it good for? I was wondering if any one had read anything on this. If your had an unused spool that was 2 to 5 years old and stored in your closet would it still be ok to use? I have never read anything on this topic.

I think if it's been out of the sun and in a relatively cool and dry place, it should be fine. A visual exmaination should tell you quite a bit. If it seems dry or brittle, it's probably bad.

I would guess the line would be fine. How do you know the line you buy in the store isn't last years or older?
