Went to the local watering hole after work today. Fished for over three hours and got one saugeye. I tried soft plastic and jerkbaits. Was hoping for some more bass but they weren’t cooperating. Even threw some soft plastics like dropshotted baits and paddle tails at bass on beds but they wanted nothing to do with it. Toward the end of my little excursion I was working a lucky craft pointer 100 in the bluegill color pattern against a steep dropoff when I got the saugeye. I was reeling with a medium speed and pops. I also tried slow retrieves, aggressive pops with pauses and just reeling and pausing. I like this lake because it’s super close and I can ride my bike to it after work which I enjoy. Gonna keep hitting it hard and see if I can get into some more big saugeyes and bass. I know there are channel cats in there, too, so I’ll probably get some bait at some point and try for catfish.
