I spent a couple of nights last week at Larimer County's East Portal campground and loved it.
The campground is at the end of 66 SW of Estes Park and S of RMNP.
The good news:
Nice views of RMNP mountains, sites with water and electric hook ups, restrooms with H&C water showers and sinks, flush toilets. Very clean and well maintained.
The bad news:
The sites with electricity and water cost $25/ night and there is an additional $7/night per vehicle you park there.
One of my motivations for staying there was to hear the elk bugling in RMNP. But there were 2 bulls just north of the campground that kept bugling well past midnight , at which time I was ready to sleep with no bugling from horny #@[email protected]^%% bull elk!
