I'm in need of a good running small outboard around a 18hp or somebody that can repair my mid 50's evinrude outboard at a good price.

If you have a motor at a fair price please PM me or if you know a good repair shop in the Denver area.

Thanks
Scott

Takes about 100 pulls to get it to start then the sucks the bulb on the tank dry and dies. I was also told from the guy a bought it from that it will run for a lillte while and die and won't start back up.

Thanks

P.S.

It's an Evinrude Fastwin 18hp

sounds like your tank vent is plugged or not open. Some of the "fixes" I've seen on old gas tanks keep the tank from venting. Alos, some of the old motors had a twin hose and a pump on the tank. If yours is supposed to and you are running a single hose, I bet it's not venting.

Also hate to say it but have you checked the plugs? replaced them? proper gas/oil mix? timing? clean the carbs? rebuilt the carbs? Dont forget to check the plug wires for cracks same with the powerpack. I just replaced the pulsepack on my johnson 125hp due to the fact I could not get spark and it ended being a cracked wire the funny part a $400 over look. :'( so theres alot of little things you need to check should take about a day of tinkering to get her running again. :)

Hi B4L....I run a 1957 Johnson 10 horse for a kicker I bought off Ebay for cheap, best damn lil motor I couldn't be any happier. My boat is a "65" Glasspar that I stripped and restored so got the old 10 horse to stay vintage and to go with my 75 horse. I also picked up off Ebay the original manual for it for about $10.00, great investment. You might want to check that out, just type in outboard motors and it brings up a broad range of stuff including the manuals!
Good luck & cya on the water!

Hey,
The best small outboard motor mechanic is Jim Worthington Just out side of Berthoud. It may be a drive for you however his name is in the phone book. If you cant get the motor to run I would give Jim a call and see if he would be interested in looking at it for you. As I stated Jim is the best outboard mechanic that i know. He also sells outboards and takes in trades sometimes. Good Luck!

Hi Bass4life I read your message on the 18 hp evinrude, I work on boat motors at home and was wondering if you like me to take a look at your boat motor for you ? If not I have a mid 70s 18 hp evinrude that I would be willing to sell. P.M. me with your thoughts on this.
