Back in high school a buddy and I shot a couple of the little lantern type cylinders with a .22. First one was completely full, and it really didn't do anything. 2nd one was nearly empty, and it shot straight up into the air probably 200 feet before it found it's way back to earth. I still remember it bouncing down from limb to limb off the trees.

You have to chain the tank down and place an ignition source next to it before you shoot it. Then the results are nice.
