I would start out at a pond that has a good population of smaller bass...to get used to identifying them in the water...get used to fishing for and seeing what works on them and you can apply it to the bigger water/fish

Fish slow since the water tempatures are still cold make sure to work areas over and over, try a texas rig and work cover by drop offs or a jerk bait and dead stick it over the same type of cover.

Thanks, i did pretty good yesterday considering the weather.
I went to riverbend ponds off of prospect rd. in ft.collins.
did see some bass in the shallows, i think after reading your posts
my retrieve was more then likely to fast. i found fish did'nt cath any but i did get the line wet so i did pretty good, better then not getting your line wet. I dont know any bass fisherman and

knows of a diagram on the web please let me know,i dont know anyone who fishes and am learning on my own as i go. anything would help.

Go to Sportsman's Warehouse (right by the outlet mall in loveland). Go back to the right hand corner of the store (in the fishing section). They have a board hanging w/ the rigs you were asking about + some others. It's better than a picture. Water Gremlin has bullet shaped split shot that works well for rubber (or gulp) worms. I think they have those at Wal-Mart. The Warehouse is a great place to check out. All the lures I use (except rooster tails) are about a buck cheaper than anywhere else.

Here's a link to a page with basic bass rigs described, including the Texas rig and the Carolina rig:  http://www.freetime.com.au/storm/rigging.asp
