Hey All-

I just moved to CO for work, came from Ohio. I love to bass fish, namely smallies. Where can a guy go and get a line wet from the shore and catch some nice smallies? I am totally catch and release..

By the way, I live in Denver (Cherry Creek area)

Peace!

Welcome to CO.. I was recommended to head down to Cherry Creek RES to do some bass fishing.. Maybe you might want to do a research on there .. Chatfield has a good number of smallies and PUEBLO RES has a ton down there as well..

Four years ago I would have taken Pueblo over Chatfield
for smallies. Today it's Chatfield. IMO.
Anyone else agree?

There are tons of smallies to be caught at Chatfield but not much to talk about when it comes to size. Seems like you have to weed through 10-20 fish before you hook into something with weight. At least that has been my expirence.

Lots of smallies at Chatfield, the problem is you have to go through a lot of small ones to find the big'uns.........

But from what I have seen this year, the average fish is larger than last year.

All those shad we were lamenting last fall and winter have really rurned things up there.!
