New to Colorado and thinking about Gross Reservoir

Hey

I am brand new to Colorado and fishing is my hobby. I looked up a few places and am thinking about heading to Gross Reservoir this weekend. I was wondering if anyone had any tips about the area or what to use in general. I'm pretty much going for trout. I read online that Snagging Kokanee is popular there, but I have no idea what that means. (any insight would be helpful) I can fly fish or just use bait and plunk or lures. I have read that white 2.5 inch tubes with a quarter ounce weight work well. If there are any disagreements, please speak up.

Thanks for any help you may have!

Gross can be a very tough lake to fish, I've been going there for a long time but not this year yet. Its a very deep lake with steep dropoffs almost everywhere. Lots of rocks, if you are fishing deep or on the bottom you will lose a ton of lures for sure. I like to use spoons there and try different depths while moving around to differt spots a lot. Some of the coves can be good for trout if the main lake isn't fishing well.
Good luck, its a nice lake but most of the fish are on the small side.
sure wish theyd throw some forage fish in there for the macks to eat.
They put kokanee in there, plus there are suckers and some crayfish. Just to many little skinny Lakers in there.
That would be sweet. That lake has so much potential to be great fishing.
