I ran accross this question today online, about having nicotine on your hands when you bait your hook, that some fish hate the smell of it, or can smell it, and it effects how well you catch fish. So i was just wondering if anyone here knows if this is true or not. I used to work in greenhouses, and in interior foliage greenhouses for about 10 years, and i do know that nicotine is a natural pesticide. It is highly toxic, and we would use nicotine bombs to kill insects in foliage greenhouses, after everyone had gone home. I know you can make your own home brew of nicotine pesticide to kill ants, simply by soaking butts in a jar of water left in the sun for a few days. So for those of us who smoke, do you think having it on your fingers and hands might also effect the fishing you do? ???
I take a wet dishtowel to wipe my hands on when i bait my hooks and after im done baiting it, because i have wondered also about the smell of handi-wipes on the bait.
