went and slung some flys at the fish in north park this weekend. The platt was fair fishing. caught a few very nice browns(16-20") on a big fat hopper. I love when its that time of year. This heat has them deep and in the shade. every fish I had come eat my hopper was in a shade area. everything else was on a san juan or my small stone fly dropper. I'm getting a digital camera soon so I can post some pics. good luck to everyone! :)

I fished it this time last year and it was pretty low...right outside side of Walden. it sounds like you had a good trip though...i seem to remember all the fish being in the shade or deep undercuts also, just as you said...

Nothing like North Park...lots of water and few people....

Just fished the N pLatte from Bennet to Saratoga and the fishing is slow even though everyone in Saratoga said its the best its ever been. We decided to make the last run at night and thats when most of our fish came.. Caught around 25 but alot of 8-10". Did get a 19" bow./

The North Platte is well worth the hike in, isn't it? Like Rottal, I fished it last year for the first time above Walden and caught just a few small ones. The water was low and thunderstorms crashed down on us as we arrived at the portals to the canyon. I sure would have liked to expore it further but that's reserved for another time.

North Park rocks! Did you happen to try the Michigan River when you were in Walden? Big browns on streamers, your mind gets lost in the lazily moving river surrounded by willows, meadows and mosquitoes.

I agree with all of you. _colorado I thing you might have fished closer to the wy line. The platt in walden is mostly private but the public water involves no hiking. The key to north park is doing some research. There are many state leased land up there that isn't posted well or at all. I've done this and found some river access that is out of sight. Fishing a river that I could pee across and hooking four pound browns. ;D keep um wet boys
