Thought some of you might like to see a 28 lb. laker my daughter and I jigged up at Flaming Gorge last week.  We also got a 21 and a 22, but those were the only 3 lake trout we landed.  Lots of big fish on Swim Beach, but they were getting pounded pretty hard all day every day.

The picture shows blood on the fish's head, but it was just from where the jig was hooked in the roof of its mouth and it swam away fine when we released it.

Blue Mesa could have (and has had) lots of fish this size if managed to protect them, rather than eradicate them.

Awesome fish Don, seems like you guys have that place dialed in. Cool you got to share that with your daughter. Hey do you guys use the standard tube jig & sucker meat up there or do you get into airplane jigs and other lures? How deep of water do you guys fish up there? Once again nice fish.

Nice laker, flaming gorge has some monsters I've heard! Blue mesa was well on its way to becoming the next flaming gorge but we all know what happened.

nice one Don, we were up Friday and Saturday also. I missed 6 hit Friday, had my head up my @@@@, my partner got 6 in the boat , including a pair of 21lbers (of course all released) . That 100' area of swim is loaded with fish, but man they are tough to get to bite. THey get hammered 7 days a week all spring and summer so I think they get real smart! It is so nice to go up there and see all the fish and how healthy they are, the CDOW boys should go up and see what a real population of lake trout is! Good job on that 28lber!

Man thats bigger than most salmon i used to catch nice job on the catching and even nicer on the release
