Well I ended up going back to my old stomping grounds for a few days so of course I was going to get some much needed fishing in. My Dad and I started fishing for spawning Sand Bass in a river I know quite well. As I was walking down the trail to get to the river 2 groups of fisherman were on their way up and as usual they started up a conversation and stated they only caught 1 fish the whole time they were there. I thought to myself that doesn't make any sense since I know the fish are in the rivers and thought they must have been doing something wrong or gulp hopefully it isn't just one of those days when the fish have lockjaw. I convinced myself it was just they were doing something wrong so I continued my walk down the trail stopping often to allow for my father to catch up. He isn't as fast as he use to be but he is always worth waiting for. After all he is my dad and he has taught me a lot, not only about fishing but life in general. Anyways back to the fishing. I stopped at the usual spots beaver made dams, bends in the river, deeper pools, and around brush casting in front of the current break, behind the current break, across the river and parallel with the banks and it didn't take long before I caught my first Sandie of the year. I continued catching them for an hour or so before they completely shutdown with lockjaw. I probably caught about 15 total in the river. My Dad didn't catch anything but I don't think that bothered him much as he was just happy to be off work and enjoying the day. We then proceeded to the dam area where I caught 1 Sand Bass before the tornadic winds made it impossible to fish. My 2nd Day of fishing was a spillway below Kaw Lake where it releases into the Arkansas River. This is my kinda of fishing lots of current and loads and loads of fish to try and catch. I fished from 2pm to about 6:30pm and I estimate I caught about 50 Sand Bass. I would go thirty minutes or so with catching one about every cast then I would go thirty minutes or so not even getting a bite and it would repeat for the 4 hours I was there. Around 6 is when the excitement started or so I thought it would. The BIG STRIPERS were coming in and chasing shad to the top. This is the moment I been waiting for but unfortunately the wind was blowing about 50mph directly in my face and there wasn't any way to get your top water to where the Stripers were so I left happy but disappointed I wasn't able to catch my big fish that I was hoping for. So all in all not a terrible trip to Oklahoma but I had hoped for a few bigger fish to show for my effort. If it wasn't for the crappy weather (tornadoes and high winds over 45mph) I think I would have caught a Striper or two to be proud of. I did stop at JM on the way back to Denver fishing from 9am to 4pm without much luck on Sunday. I ended up with 4 small channel cats, 1 carp and 1 fish that broke me off when I was fishing in the lake. Pretty disappointed with my trip to JM as I had high hopes of finally landing my 1st Wiper and 1st Sand Bass in Colorado. I am not sure if I was doing something wrong or what but I will say I didn't see but 2 other people with fish. 1 person had 2 Saugeye and 1 lady had a Wiper. Other than that I didn't see anybody else catch anything. I want to say thanks to Brian aka catfishking for the advice he gave me while I was at JM. I think the fish at JM just had lockjaw that day.

I have never had so much trouble adding photos. Why is there a 128 KB limit?
