I am not a great fly fisherman by any means. I do however love improving and learning new things. That said, this year has been very successful for me in terms of fly fishing. Despite Covid, and dealing with staying at home with a 6,4 and 2 year old I have done really well in my local area for fly fishing. I have caught 15 species on the fly rod including my first ever Carp, Walleye, and Wiper on the fly.

Looking back at this year I realized the biggest thing I am doing different compared to last year, is a simple change. I tie any fly that I want to give extra movement to with a non slip loop knot. That is it! One little change that made a big difference for me. Anytime I am fishing a streamer, or pattern that you fish actively I use this knot. Here is a video on how to tie it.
