Just curious what everyone is using? I finally got cable internet yesterday from Comcast. I love the speed, but Comcast web service sucks so far.

I may just keep AOL because it is ultra fast now and I always thought it was user friendly anyway.

Re: Online Srevice Provider

I now have a choice of their online service (software) or just running America Online thru the cable. The Comcast home page and web browser is terrible so far. Since I no longer have to use dialup, I can use the AOL Broadband service over the cable line.

That is really all I need, but my kids use a lot of different services that AOL provides. So after I cancel the phone line, it will cost me $25 a month more than i was paying. No big deal I guess.

Neal,

I have earthlink as my ISP and it has been OK. They have some pretty good spam controls. I could not get cable or DSL in my area so I still have wireless broadband. I see that Comcast is just now offering service in my area now, though, and so I may switch.

Of course, many of the AOL services (like AIM) are free and others (like email) can be had free elsewhere. So it kind of depends which services you need. I have a gmail account (google's email) in addition to my ISP email account and it is pretty nice. 1Gb of free email storage, but you have to wonder how long this free deal can continue...

People I know who have cable service love it...

I like my comcast a lot! 6.6mb down, 768k up. Never had a problem, as for firefox I use it now and again, there really is no spyware in Internet explorer, its the websites. If you keep IE updated everything is fine, you should also be using a firewall, either the one in XP, or something as Zonealarm, regardless of wahat browser you use.

When I lived in Aurora I had cable internet and was amazed by the speed. Then I moved to Littleton and there was not DSL or cable available. Had to use a dial up for 3 years. :( . Got cable again a year and half ago. I am very happy with cable. I suppose when I can finally afford to move into a cabin on a lake, I will have to go back to dial up. But then again the way I spend money on fishing equipment I will have to work until I die.

I have adelphia cable, I dont like it that much since I have had other cable services that were faster but you have to use waht you can get. No way would I use dialup again.

Neal dont pay for AOL and cable, just get AIM and they can still talk to all their AOL friends there are plenty of chatrooms on the internet that they can talk on for FREE. AOL is not worth the 25$ a month they would charge you especially since everything on aol is just bookmarks to regular websites. Name any of their services and I'll point you to a website where you can do the same thing.
