Started fishing Boyd before sunrise.  Fished with a jig on one rod and shrimp on the bottom on the other rod.  No hits on the jig until after sunrise.  Got quite a bit of small hits on the shrimp.  Then BAM!  A 20"+ channel cat.  Got it all the way up to the bank and ACCIDENTALLY RELEASED the fish.   Had some technical difficulties.  All in all, not a bad day of fishing.  Between the 4 of us (Monkies_Butt, Eendo, Monkies_Butt's Sister, & Me), we caught about a dozen or so white basses (1/2 was 4-8" & released), decent sized crappies, 2 channels, & a few small smallies.  We all fished, but Monkies_Butt did majority of the catching.

If you are heading up there, bring minnows.  That is going to be your ticket to catching fish!

A small white bass caught around 8pm- :p

Re: PIC BOYD- 5/20/06 Early Morning & Evening

No bag or size limit on white bass @ boyd (at least not on the regulations brochure).  Only bass info I found was 12"/Smallies & 15"/LM Bass.

Does anyone know the bag & size limit on White Bass? Thanks

TBMANIVONG - Planning on doing some fishing after work .. Hit me up an Email if your available.. Sorry about your CAT man.. I dont know what got into me on letting that thing slip out of my hands.. That dude was a monster, Its kinda scary with 5 inch stingers..! I'll take you out again and put you on some CATS..!

BOYD - LOTS of bass hitting right now.. Lots of action. Didnt get a chance to go hit up that little pond in the back going into Boyd though.. Thats one of my favorite places to fish LM Bass.. Has anyone been over there in that area. It feeds into Boyd on the south parking lot..?

I bought minnows at the boyd marina last week. At first I thought they were awfully expensive, but then they gave me a big scoop and thought it wasn;t too bad of a deal after all.

We were fishing the Marina Cove.  Did pretty well along the rocks (looks like a mini mini dam).  The sand area on either side of the rocks is good too. Don't forget the curly tail jigs & minnows.

I've caught decent sized bluegill @ the inlet.

My wife requested enough fish for a family fish fry, so I took the boat out on Boyd Sunday morning with my son and grandson. We fished outside the pump house channel & caught 4 nice size trout, then while trolling across the south end of the lake caught a 4-lb. walleye and one more trout. The trout all ran in the 16-18 in. range.

The walleye was caught on a reef runner while trolling the 12 ft. countour across the south end. We marked a lot more fish at 7 to 10 ft in 12 ft. of water but that was the only eye that bit. When we cleaned it there were 2 perch in its stomach.

I fished Boyd on saturday and man o' man what a sweet white bass fishery. I hammered the little buggers in the inlet cove near the south parking lot that was talked about in earlier reports. I was there in the middle hours of a hot day only to notice a few small fish sufaceing near the shorelines. I tied up my shad Zara Spook and walked the dog like mad. The faster the better. I've never seen fish act so aggressively towards a spooked worked in this fashion. My Spook was of larger size so these little fish had a hard time getting the hooks in thier mouths. Sometimes, I would get five or six smashes per cast. It's completely exciting to watch you plug get launched out of the water 12" or so. After exhausting the canal I left for the marina where I caught a monster ******. I was stupid enough to leave all my gear, camera, and scale at the truck so I could walk and cast freely, that I may have released a fish close to state record. It looked to be between16-18" and weigh around four pounds. I did not realize the Colorado state record was about this size. Oh well, it was one of the coolest things that has happened to me in a long time and I can't wait to get back out there and do it again.
