Just me and my wife, ten year anniversary trip... We had an amazing trip and timed it with the weather perfect. We arrived Friday 6/3 and stayed at Defiance. Woke up Saturday and ran all through Escalante

until we found a sweet spot to post up...

Wallowed in this spot the rest of the day floating and crushing beers. Also, suprised my better half with a bottle of Dom Perignon... ;)

We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves in this spot. The only annoying part was ski boats would approach on plane and then shut down when they came around the corner and saw us. The wakes would reverberate for what seemed like an hour every time a boat would approach like that. Very dangerous, and I am really amazed that there are not more accidents and lost lower units due to this behavior. Escalante was busy for sure.

We woke up Sunday morning and ran to Dangling rope to fill the gas tanks and get a bit more beer and ice.

From there we decided to get away from people and ran the San Juan

We ended up 2/3 of the way back and found a nice beach area. I had to remove maybe 100 live tumbleweeds but once that was done we were set.

Drank more, fished a bit, hiked some and mostly swam to stay cool. Monday morning we woke up early and made the run back to Bullfrog. We stopped at a few spots on the way out the SJ to fish.

Overall an amazing trip. Weather was perfect, no wind a little hot (100+ degrees) but the water was still cool enough(78-80) that we stayed cool in the water. We spent a lot of time sight seeing and taking(amazing) pictures. We ran just short of 300 miles in 48 hours and pushed the Skeeter/Yamahammer to the limit. 8)

We did fish a little here and there but not too much. We had three baits tied on the whole time(Keitech Swing Impact FAT on a 1/4oz Jighead, Dropshot and Buzzbait) and they all caught fish everywhere we stopped. We caught Smallmouth(nothing over 14") Largemouth(15-17") and Stripers(18-24" and skinny).

Disclaimer: Dropshotting is much a more technical technique after 15+ Beers in 101 degree heat.

Time to plan the next one...

Sounds like a fun trip!

The 101 degree heat alone would make it challenging. Sitting in the shade waiting for the evening bite was hard enough for me this weekend. And it only got into the 90s where I was.

El Deeze, that's a cool ass way to spend the anniversary. The wifey has to be cool as hell to agree to that getaway.......but in the end the ladies just want time with their man.
