I'm been tooling around w/ the idea of how to build a rooftop rod rack, one that locks, one that I could build inexpensively enough to keep me from having to shell out the 400 bucks for that sweet Titan Rod Vault.

Here is what I came up w/...all for under 150 bucks and hold 4 rods.

I like it. Protected from the elements. I put mine in my ski rack so I don't have to break it down (handy why you are exploring a river) but sometimes it gets whipped around by the wind.

sweet, does it lock?
It does...the reel housing is a Pelican Case and I use a marine combo lock...
Looks great. Couldn't someone just take a screwdriver and unfasten the wormdrive clamps though? That appear to be the only thing holding it to the roof rack, or am I missing something not visible in the pictures?
