Great post - hopefully you can land him next time. Earlier this year at Quincy I saw a big muskie right at the inlet/pipe in the cove right below the parking lot. It was right on the shoreline and seemed to be eating something off the bottom. It had a huge tail that was above water. All we had were flies and it wasn't interested in those. That is the closest encounter I have had at Quincy. I didn't know about the site at that time but I would have posted the sighting right away.
As far as flippers I would highly reccomend double looping the ends of the straps so they don't fall off. I have a very cheap pair that work great. I had a friend that bought new flippers and one of them sunk right away when it fell off. I don't know the brand name but they were the cheapest pair at Discount Fishing Tackle.
