Went up to Rampart with Azbassernco hoping the ice had come off to try for some macks... but the Reservoir has a lid on it still covering everything but the inlet. THe water flow was very high and alot of the grassy banks are now underwater, this should help remove that ice. Talked to a forest ranger on the way up and he said they are going to open it for camping next weekend. (or was it after the weekend, I forget) So on to the fishing... Since Azbassernco is new to the state I figured I better teach him how to catch some trout. We fish for a while no bites move to the other side of the stream and I cast out powerbait/salmon egg special, and BAM finally a trout, errr no not a trout a SUCKER! Well atleast we got the first fish, the rest should be easy. 2 mins later Az hooks up with a trout re rigs tosses it back out and hooks up with another trout both on salmon eggs, about this time some guys come down on the other side of the stream and toss out a worm and bobber... into the same spot we are casting, we didnt mind to much figuring the bite was starting then it happened the trout got a taste of them worms and we didnt see another one all day, while the guys on the other side drifted worm after worm and caught fish after fish. DRAT THE LUCK.
All in all it was a good day to skip sleep and Az is a kewl guy to fish with, and now that I taught him how to catch trout should be master angling soon. >
Oh I guess I could post my sturgeon.... errr sucker.
