I'm planning a camping and fishing trip for visiting family (all adults) second week of June. I've only lived in Colorado a few years myself.

Ideally, would like a primitive camping spot, but mainly want to avoid crowds.

I'm in Colorado Springs, so probably don't want to drive all the way to the western slope.

Any ideas?

They didn't want to drive all the way to west slope-

most forest service roads in a national forest allow primitive dispersed camping.

Lynx pass area north of 11-mile is undeveloped.

Adobe creek can be fun and the fishing can be good.

I know you don’t want to drive and you want primitive. However, Blue Mesa and elk creek marina/campground can be a great time. Well if you have a boat

Don’t forget about Martin and horseshoe lakes in Walsenburg.

check out Rampart Range. We have had some great weekends there just by pushing deeper than the day trippers.

If you are willing to go a little further, i liked the Gore Pass area just west of Wolford Res.
