Fished a small retention pond in my neighborhood today for a few hours. I was fishing my 3wt and caught fish on a small soft hackle, then switched to a black ghost streamer in yellow/white and hammered the crappie, bass & bluegill. I've never caught any decent gills or crappie from this pond, but this time I manage a few crappie around 9" and a few gills around 8-8.5". Also picked up a few creek chubs in the irrigation ditch. Used a slow retrieve but I don't think it mattered, they were hitting good in 2-3 FOW. Didn't see the usual carp. If you have a crappie spot, I'd suggest you try it now.
