I've fished the Rio Grande around this time of year a few times on elk hunts and have done very well with browns and bows. Some good size rainbows in this river but probably one of the lowest fish counts of any river I've fished. Typical mayfly nymphs worked best for us.
Had another good trip today. landed 5 browns the largest was 18inches. Had a bunch of trout follow my streamer only to turn away last minute. I guess they have seen quite a few of the local patterns this season. I don't know how long the good fishing will still last but its not over quite yet.
