Got on google maps to look up some of my old haunts in Lone Camp, Texas. One of my favorite ponds has died a painful death.

It doesn't look like much now, but back in the 90s, this pond was a-sunfish-a-cast... Bluegills, greenies, hybrids, shellcrackers.... The man who owned this property used to let us come over and fish this pond any time we wanted to. Only stipulation: keep every sunfish you catch.

Rest in Peace, bluegill pond... You were a good friend.

I've had that happen. Maybe I should look it up. It was a remote county park in east county San Diego. Last I was there - about 10 years ago? - it was a trashy trailer park. Sucked.

That's where I learned to fish, with a bamboo stick, line I found and a hook I would bum from some one. I dug up my own worms or used Velveta. Blue gill everywhere.

Really sad. Sorry brother.
