Took our annual trip to the Nebraska Sandhill country to chase warmwater fish. Fishing was decent but not lights out. Weather was hot and most of the lakes had algae blooms reducing visibility. At least the wind wasn't howling like in previous years.

Between the three of us we caught Pike to 38", Bass to 21", Bluegill to 10" and Perch to 12". A little fish porn.

Sounds like a great trip and excellent variety, but I want to see some pics of that 15 pound pike. That must have been a blast on a flyrod! Always wanted to catch a pike on a fly.

I think we ran into you guys of I-80 on a pond on Monday the 6th. You guys were in a Tacoma, dark grey one I think.

Nice trip and fish porn. Kind of sad we didn't make it to Sand hills this year. That place is fun but the window seems really short. I bet that it gets choked up with weeds quickly.

It wasn't us. We were back in Denver on Sat. My fishing partner has been going there for 20 years and this is the worst he's seen it as far as algae and weed growth. The season is indeed short: the campground opens the middle of April and the fishing is basically done by the end of June.

Sorry no pics on the big pike. Since it's catch and release for all pike over 28" we tried to minimize handling.

The guy in the round float tube has a doppelganger then ,lol. We ran into some guys on that pond on Monday and they had CO plates too. Our trip was fun, we pounded a lot of pounds and had fun but the quality wasn't like it is up there. I'd be willing to hit it again and gamble on the short window. We went two years ago the first week of May and it was too early and last year the first week of June and it was too early again because of some late winter storms. Even with the water being too cold it was still a great time. One year we'll hit it at the perfect time and fish it at peak...... I hope ,lol.

Thanks for sharing.
