went to the shadowmountain spillway sat ...seen 1000000 people so decided to check out granby . fishing from shore(wife and kid) with bait and the normal stuff ...panther martins kastmasters rapalas caught a couple rainbows nothing big one maybe 18 . on the way back we decided to go to willow springs ( i think ) its the res on right before granby you take a dirt road to get to it ....driving down the dirt road we see a little spillway looking thing so stop and decide to fish it . as soon as my thomas boyant hit the water bang little rainbow . after catching 10 my wife finally got out of the car and wanted to fish. i told her No this is my spot (translation gave her the pole and said yes dear) she must have caught 5 or 6 all between 12 and 15 . getting bored i grabbed my fly rod and started tossing my own version of the wooly bugger ....i started catching them one right after another on my own fly i was so proud ....after what must have been 30 fish between the two of us i see a unmarked explorer pull up ....its a sheriff and the spot we are fishing is off limits . so not only did i not find a cool new spot but my great new version of the wooly bugger isnt so great after all . also stopped off at evergreen on the way home and seen quite a few litte tiger muskys hanging out by the boat house in the weeds it was 1:00 so they were relaxin not feeding but ill be back tommorow with a set up for the little ones and my baitcaster for the big ones .

well for me i use a couple different things but after today its changed . for those little ones that are sitting in the weeds the only thing that i can think of is a texas rigged worm with scent put right at there snouts . ive caught a few tigers non of the legal size yet but i still try. im like most colorado fisherman i know little about pike and pretty much nothing about musky . there is one thing i do know is that all the pike ive ever caught the lure ive caught them with has red on it . a zara spook at the arsenal or a panther martin at williams fork . ive also seen a lady at evergreen lose one on salmon eggs so for some reason i think red drives these big toothy predators crazy and im gonna play off that . this week im gonna try texas rigged gulp worms in red for the small ones and for the large ones a big red swimbait

Willow creek reservoir can be a great place. I've never pulled anything real big out of there though. Guitar- How far down from the reservoir were you that was illegal? I always thought the creek was fair game but I guess at least a portion of it isn't. Anyone else know the regs on the creek to the Granby inlet?

I think he was fishing the canal that goes to granby. There are signs that say gov. property, but that canal runs into a small pond that i've seen people fish.May have to give that a try next time im up there.I was up there Sunday and the fishing was slow,of course the fishing report said it was hot(not!!)THe water was very murky from runoff and i talked to atleast five others on boats with poor results.Last fall i caught my limit of kokes many times, hope this fall willbe as good.
