Backpacked to lower Slate with bro and a friend.10 miles 1-way.Nice cuttys on drys(yellow or orange humpys,black ant,royal coachman,etc.) and some on nymphs(orange asher when the wings fell off!).

Here's one I caught at the inlet:

My bro with a nice one:

Hiked to Upper Slate,another mile and 1000 ft elevation gain.Tons of brookys but largest was 12 inches.We each caught 30-40 on drys. Its a blast sight-fishing!

man nice fish. how alte into the year do you continue to hike into these places?

Some years I fish them till early november,but usually mid october is the latest.Hunting season is the best time to be fishing in the high country!

Great looking fish Slayer... You are the man I did a little hiking this weekend above 10,000 ft and I was sucking wind like you would not belive, I couldnt even imagine doing a 10 mile trek yet.

gonna have to add that to my "places i gotta go" list might have to wait till next year not shure im ready for a 10 miler one way it would take me 2 days to get it and 2 days to get out and from the looks of it i'd want a few days to fish

camera must have reversed it some how like fliping a negitive (for those that remember film)

are all the cell pics reversed or just a few it seams the cell is reversing the pics try taking a picture of something with wrighting like a street sign or billboard and see what it does?

FG,it took 4.5 hrs to get in. Same time to get out,lots of up and down both ways.

heck it will take me probly 6 hours to drive to the trail head

Hey RK,IMO there are lakes with better bang for the buck!The square tops has as good or better fish and its a 45 min. walk.And the lake above Breckenridge had cuttys all bigger than the brookys up here.About a 2 hr walk.It was a neat area but wont prolly ever go back cause the fish just arent that big.
