Spinney Monday Oct. 31

On the water at 11:15. Beautiful day initially ? calm and very bright. Action was slow at the start but as soon as a breeze picked up Rainbows started hitting. Mainly fished the weed beds out from the second and third parking lots. Discovered that the trout were much more interested in Callibaetis nymphs rather than bugger type flies. Perhaps they still have imprinting from their summer time feasting. Anyway, I got 7 or 8, lost several and missed a lot in a few hours. Lost a big one that went into my backing twice that I never even saw. Wind kicked up very violently at 3:00 and that ended my day.

You'd be amazed at how many Calibetis are in Spinney. I've seen the ground carpeted with those little insects in the Summer in the North Boat ramp cove.
