can anyone identify? I'm not really sure how to tell the difference between the two. Caught on a high mountain Lake in Indian Peaks

Without a clear view of the tail, it is kinda hard to tell. My bet is on Brook Trout, but interesting colors for a brookie. If the tail was forked (can't tell in the pic) it was a splake. Also if you check the CPW survey summaries for Indian Peaks and James Peak Wilderness it could give you a clue as to which lakes might have Splake in them.

Without a clear view of the tail or head and using solely color/patterns (horrible for identification); the lack of any blue halo, intrinsic of a brook, sways makes me to think Splake.
