When I saw the weather forecast, I got depressed. :( I had 47-48 degree water in the upper end at Pueblo on Friday and we were real close to that good spring bite coming on. We're gonna have lows in the low teens thru Wed. and I'm guessing the water temp will drop back to low 40's-probably where it should be for this time of year but I was hoping for an early spring . Spring around here does tend to tease a little. Oh well. Ed

The wind was the only thing stopping me from going out sunday, the snow wasnt bothering me. But I was out on the Ark saturday and the wind was horrible even the shore fishers were packing it in. I was determined to catch something but after moving up into a canyon along tunnel road in Canon City the sun started a little BWO hatch which even the fish seemed to ignore. So around 3 pm the hunger kicked in and I decided to give up for the day.

On Friday, the upper end was stained but water clarity was about 2-3 ft-not too bad. Upper end warms up quicker because its stained, because its shallower and because the runoff from the Arkansas River hasn't begun yet, which tends to cool things down a little. I don't fish the upper end much once the temps come up-prefer to fish clear water but in the early spring its a real magnet for wipers, etc. Ed
