Hello,

I am heading to Steamboat Lake in late July, I am fairly new to fly fishing and would like any advice you would be willing to share to help me catch some fish there.

I have a boat so I can get to any spot on the lake, the last time I was there about 5 years ago I caught a whole bunch of stockers on HD trouts. This time I would like to go after some bigger fish on the fly. Any rigging help or fly selection would be greatly appreciated. Most of the time I toss buggers and leaches with some success.

Thanks!

Thank you very much, appreciate it. I happen to have a puppy a lot like yours!
Except she doesn't ever sit still on the boat...
I have a 90 pounder that doesn't sit still on the boat either. Possibly one of the worst fishing dogs ever. But he does well chasing birds.

Good luck at Steamboat. I like it up there.

Just got back from there. Go to Meadow Point in the evening. We were using a green copper john with a callibaetis nymph 12" below. Copper was about 9' below the indicator. Water is dropping. Boats were not able to go between the island and the main shore
