I'm going to build myself a swimbait rod shortly, and I've been looking at hooking it up with a Curado 301e. I don't even know if that's the best option, I know it's a bullet proof reel, but what are others using for the job. Overall weight is a concern for me, I like 'em as light as possible.

I am using a Revo with mine. It has a decent line capacity and a high gear ratio. I like turning the reel slow to concentrate more on feeling the rod (no homo)

Stick with the 300 Curado. Most comfort and great power in a (semi) compact package. I use mine to 20lb. mono, would trust it with 65lb. braid, but I prefer mono.

Above 20lb. mono or 65lb. braid, I would go to a 400 size, just so there is still plenty of line on the spool at the end of a long cast.

I have the Curado 201DPV lhr which rocks, maybe not for SB's tho. Picked up an Abu Amb at decent price from Ganders...gonna upgrade the rod. Would like to see that 301 on the new rod instead...kinda pricey.
