Hey guys, I am taking my son and his friend up to the hills. We will be staying near the confluence of the Taylor and East Rivers. I am the only one that can somewhat handle a fly rod, so we may be looking for places to bait fish on either of these rivers, at Taylor reservoir, or any where else where the fishing is good. the boys want action as opposed to size. Any suggestions would be appreciated--we leave tomorrow.

Just below the Confluence can be good, there's plenty of public water around that area and it all can be good. Salmon should be making there way up but doubt they are that far yet, if the water is clear you should be in good shape, check out the fishing shop across the road.

The taylor river is good for browns and rainbows, with some over 20". The best baits are worms, nymphs, and panther martins. The entire Taylor is open for bait except right below Taylor Dam.
The East River is about the same. Bait is not allowed from the hatchery down to the confluence with the Taylor, but is allowed on the rest of the river.
Both rivers have a lot of private ground but it's well posted. In fact it's sick to see all the river fenced off with no trespassing signs every five feet, even miles away from someone's house. Those people are hogs. This is why we need to change our stream access laws to allow wading and anchoring in a stream channel of a navigable river, at least to a point. It makes me sick. So I generally don't fish these rivers because I can catch all the monsters I want in the Colorado.
