Anyone know how Taylor is fishing for Macks right now? Headed up for Memorial day weekend, hoping to avoid some crouds by going early. Is it too late for the big fish in the shallows? Anyone know?
Nope it's not too late. Now is in fact about the best time. The lake still had a little ice in the coves last week and should be ice free now. I would fish the flats out in front of the boat house in about 30 feet of water and vertically jig tubes and sucker meat or slow troll a flatfish.

I drove down to Taylor last weekend and had the worst luck fishing the lake in the 13 years I've fished it. We fished from sun-up until 11 on Saturday and sun-up until 9 on Sunday only catching one 22" Mack on sucker meat. We were fishing from shore and didn't see any other macks caught from shore or from a boat, but not too sure about the success of the boaters.

I talked to a gentleman that told me the previous weekend his group tore them up, but they had been skunked on this weekend. He attributed the pore success for macks on three consecutive days of 75-85 degree weather.
