It aint the fastest boat on the lake but its fast enough. Plus it gets excellent mileage!

Yes. Seriously.

Go to your local Chevron oil distributor, and buy their 2 stroke, is is just as good if not better than Quicksilver or Yamalube. And no they will not void a warranty if you do not use their non branded oil. Just make sure it has TCW3 rating. Makes no difference if mineral or synthetic.

I pay about $13/gal for the chevron, but I do buy in bulk. $45 is highway robbery.

It is NOT normal TW3 stuff. Its special for direct injection.

Right. It is "special" marketing to suck more $$$ out of the buyer. We have been running direct injection since the early 2000's with the first Yamaha OX66's came out. Still run a few of the OX66's and HPDI's but have largely moved to OptiMax over the last 5 years on the 2-stoke side.

Coming from a guy with over 40 (2011-2015) OptiMax 250 HP's in service you do not need to pay $45/gal for the "recommended" oil, but of course your local Merc shop will not tell you that.
