Both are dope, IMO... I'm a 'Bird guy myself. I've used both, and as long as you read your manual, they're easy enough to use.

To be honest man, the tech is all pretty much the same. Like I've said to you in another thread ;) , it's Chevy/Ford at this point.

I like the bird for the slightly larger screen, but other than that...pretty much same/same

I would stick to Lowrance since I've used them for a long time and am used to the format, as others have stated they are probably all similar now, I've heard lot's of good stuff on Garmin though.
My new boat has Furuno on it so time for some schooling.

I think they sued each other for different aspects of the technology and settled allowing each to utilize the infringing technology.... so they now offer pretty much the same product.

An HDS-5 barely fits with the cover on the screen... kinda pushes the zippers to the max getting it closed.... No way it would even come close to zipping up with a 7!!
