I use this year round but its especially important to add it to gas when you won't be using the boat 4-5 months. I fish year round and never winterize but either way, its cheap insurance.

Kirbydog,

With this outboard I now have, I won't really winterize either. I will add stabil, change gear oil. My problem is the gas tank is kind of empty right now (with these high gas prices). My dad used to fill the tank on his boat before winter to keep mosture out, but that a big investment today (like $200). I've always topped off the tank before (I/O's) but now I have a big and empty tank... I wonder if mosture is a problem here (no humidity) especially since there is alcohol in our gas. Thoughts?

Actually it has a water remover in it. There are some other gas additives that keep moisture from forming but I have had good luck with the stabil. You just want to be sure to run it for awhile to get the treated gas into the engine.
